FAQ
How do you charge?
I offer three ways to work together, depending on what you need.
Ongoing Wealth Management is my primary service. It combines ongoing financial planning with investment management, and the fees start at 1% of assets under management and decline as assets increase. This is an ongoing relationship built around your full financial picture.
I also offer an ongoing Planning Relationship for clients who want continued planning support without investment management. This is structured as an annual fee, billed monthly, with fees based on complexity.
For those who want a comprehensive financial plan without an ongoing relationship, I offer one-time Financial Planning engagements. Fees are based on scope and complexity and range between $4,200 and $10,000.
There is no asset minimum for any of these, though a minimum annual fee applies to the wealth management relationship. If you’re not sure which option fits, that’s a fine place to start the conversation.
What does "fee-only" actually mean, and why does it matter?
Fee-only means I’m paid directly by my clients, not by commissions or referral fees. I don’t receive compensation from brokers, banks, insurance companies, or financial products I suggest. That means my only compensation comes from my clients, and my advice isn’t shaped by commissions or product incentives.
What happens after I reach out?
Working together starts with a real introduction, a no-pressure conversation where we get to know each other and figure out if we’re a good fit. If it makes sense to move forward, we’ll agree on the right way to work together and begin the planning process, where I build a financial plan around your full picture: your goals, your taxes, your timeline, and your concerns.
For ongoing clients, I stay engaged, update your plan as your life changes, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Do I need to have my finances figured out before we talk?
Not at all. Most people who reach out aren’t sure where to start, and that’s exactly what the first conversation is for. You don’t need a plan, a strategy, or even a clear question. You just need to be ready to talk about where you are and where you want to go.
What does it mean to be a fiduciary?
As a fiduciary, I’m legally and ethically required to act in your best interest, not just suitable, not just good enough, your best interest. Always. That means putting your interests first and being transparent about fees and potential conflicts of interest.
Do you work with people outside Cincinnati?
Yes. While Kelos Wealth Planning is based in Cincinnati, I work with clients nationally. Wherever you are, you get the same level of attention and access as a local client.
What makes Kelos Wealth Planning different from other financial advisors?
A few things. Every relationship starts with a real financial plan, not investment management with a plan stapled on as an afterthought. Tax strategy is at the center of what I do, not an afterthought addressed once a year. And when you reach out, you reach me directly, not a rotating team or a call queue. You should always recognize the voice on the other end of the line, and that person should know yours.
Who isn’t a fit for Kelos Wealth Planning?
Kelos isn’t a good fit for everyone, and I’d rather say that upfront. Kelos isn’t built for clients who want individual stock picks, a transactional relationship, or minimal involvement. The clients who get the most out of working with Kelos are the ones who want real planning, not just someone to manage a portfolio. If that’s not what you’re looking for, I can help point you in the right direction.
Where will my money be held?
For wealth management clients, your accounts are held in your name at Charles Schwab, an unaffiliated registered broker-dealer. Kelos Wealth Planning manages your portfolio and provides ongoing financial planning and advice, while your assets remain in your name at Schwab.
This structure is an important safeguard. You have direct access to your Schwab accounts at any time, where you can see exactly what you own, verify transactions, and receive statements independently of Kelos. This separation provides an important layer of transparency and protection.
